SR20 and SR9 Intersection Improvements Project

NOTICE OF UPCOMING WORK AND TRAFFIC IMPACTS

June 15, 2022

This notice is in regards to temporary traffic impacts for the above project for intersection improvement at SR20 and SR9.

This email is to notify you that Colacurcio Brothers, Inc. will be starting a construction project at the intersection of SR20 and SR9 on June 20th.  The project includes upgrade of the traffic signal system including curb and sidewalk revisions at all four corners of the intersection.  The work is scheduled to complete by the end of August 2022.

This work will include shoulder closures and lane shifts.  Traffic control flaggers and devices will be present during the construction.

Work will generally be confined to one quadrant of the intersection at a time.  The work starting on June 20th will generally take place at the southeast corner of the intersection (near Dairy Queen).  Work at the southwest corner (near Rite Aid) will follow starting June 29th.  Initial work will include installation of temporary traffic control devices, erosion control and utility potholing, followed by demolition of existing curbs and walks, electrical and signal pole installation and installation of new curbs, gutters and sidewalks.

The existing signal system will remain operative during construction, with lane shifts and reduced number of lanes. There should always be at least one lane open to traffic in all directions.

When the existing traffic signal is switched over to the new traffic signal, there will be additional lane closures which will occur during nighttime hours. This is not scheduled to occur until mid-August. We will contact you with more information when we get closer to that date.

During traffic control situations the contractor will make emergency vehicle access the priority.  The work is being done during school summer break, but should busses be involved, they will be given priority just after emergency vehicles.

Notices will be published periodically on the city website at:  https://www.ci.sedro-woolley.wa.us/
