“After many years of planning and fundraising, we are pleased to finally be moving forward with these improvements.”  Nathan Salseina, Public Works Operations Supervisor

The project is being funded through federal dollars received by the city from the American Rescue Plan Act with the goal of improving our parks system to allow citizens to get outside and enjoy the outdoors. The park, originally built in 1946, has not received any major upgrades in the past 50 years.

Work will begin over the course of the winter by removing broken sidewalks, removal of the existing non ADA playground, and installation of utilities. Work to build the new playground and splash pad will begin in the spring, and hopefully be completed in the summer of 2023. The park will be closed to public use during this process. The Community Center, Senior Center, and YMCA buildings will not be effected by the work. See the Impervious Study Diagram for project details.
