FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Seeking volunteers to serve on Skagit County’s Voluntary Stewardship Program Watershed Group

Skagit County is looking for two members of the public interested in serving a two-year term on the Voluntary Stewardship Program (VSP)’s advisory Watershed Group. Washington State’s VSP enables an enrolled county to protect and restore riparian streams and other critical areas on agricultural land through new voluntary programs and coordination of existing programs, instead of new regulation.

The Watershed Group is made up of local producers, partner organizations, and County staff. This group is tasked with advising VSP staff on how best to operate the Voluntary Stewardship Program in Skagit County, including implementation of the Skagit County VSP Work Plan.

Serving on the Watershed Group will require serving a two-year term with meetings scheduled every quarter. Ideal candidates would show experience or expertise in the watershed and have a demonstrated ability to work well with others.

Apply online at www.skagitcounty.net/vsp and email a letter of interest to jennej@co.skagit.wa.us or mail to Skagit County Commissioners at 1800 Continental Place, Suite 100, Mount Vernon, WA  98273.

Applications must be submitted on or before 4:30 p.m., Monday, July 3rd, 2023.

For more information about the Voluntary Stewardship Program Watershed Group, visit https://www.skagitcounty.net/departments/publicworksnaturalresourcesmanagement/WSG.htm or email jennej@co.skagit.wa.us.
