Excessive Heat Event Expected

Highway 20 is still closed for the Sourdough Fire. Stay out of the area!

Good afternoon, here is the latest weather briefing from NWS.

KEY POINTS
Moderate to Major HeatRisk for Western Washington through Wednesday, peaking Monday and Tuesday.

This is expected to be a multi-day heat event, with the very warm overnight low temperatures contributing to the
higher HeatRisk levels. HeatRisk forecasts are very sensitive to the exact temperature forecast and therefore may
fluctuate with each forecast update.

Fire weather conditions will become elevated to critical through mid-week due to the combination of very low
relative humidity and increasing instability. Critical conditions primarily expected in the Cascades.

NWS Heat Risk map is at NWS HeatRisk (noaa.gov).
