Memorial Park Reopens

As of 9am this morning, Memorial Park (located at 703 Pacific Street) has reopened to the public. New improvements to the park include a modern playground, new restrooms, a splash pad, and all associated utilities. The project also restored the 69-year-old memorial to the veterans of the Spanish American War located at the southern entrance to the park off State Street.

Although the splash pad is complete and functional, it will remain turned off until the city receives final approvals from the Washington State Department of Health and the Skagit County Public Health Department. The splash pad is a seasonal feature of the park and will be open yearly from June 1st through September 30th from 10am to Dusk.

Thank you to all the neighbors of the park for dealing with the construction process over these past 8 months. An official ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony for the renovated park is scheduled for September 21st at 12:30pm.
